Inexpensive, good selection of bits Sep 23, 2010

I am using these bits with a Leatherman Wave.

The bit selection is varied and fills out the missing tools on the Wave. Most useful have been the other Phillips heads and the hex keys. The plastic holder fits perfectly inside the nylon Wave sheath, just behind the elastic piece. Well, one holder fits perfectly... Luckily I have two Waves, so each gets a slightly different toolset. Though I was a little leery about paying $15 for a set of bits, they do improve the usefulness of the tool. Whereas before I had to pull out a mini-screwdriver or a different toolkit to work on certain computers, now I can just carry the Wave. In that light, it's a bargain.

Got this for my Leatherman Skeletool CX since I don't carry many tools with me. Almost every bit I've needed in the last 2 years has been included in this kit. Good assortment of metric and standard hex bits, torx and screwdrivers. As much as I've used them, none of the bits show any sign of wear. If you can't carry a whole toolbox with you, this is a good alternative. Fits in Leatherman 930711 Nylon Sheath with room for Bit Driver Extension on the side.

I love this little add on for my Leatherman tools. The provided bits cover a very good range of common screws used these days. Having this with your leather man is a must. The sleeves that the bits are held in, easily slide into any of my multitool pouches without having to carry an extra sheath.

Leatherman Bit Kit w/No Sheath included:
Love Leatherman Charge TTi I have 2, and one older Bit Kit w/matching Nylon Sheath Item # 934870. So I wanted to order another Bit Kit set, so I did from Amazon. I received it today it is the same besides for "NO" Nylon Sheath included! What gives? Went to Leatherman.com no matching Bit Kit Sheath offered or pictured. Called the Leatherman Store and they were not helpful regarding accessories Sheaths, made in China I might add. So I will be calling Leatherman 1(800) 847-8665 tomorrow to voice my opinion regarding proper fitting matching discontinued Sheaths which are necessary, because you can only fit one bit sleeve in your Leatherman Charge TTi Sheath, so it is nice to have a slim caring case for the other bit sleeve if you need them.

1/31/2012 UPDATE: Called Leatherman at 1(800) 847-8665, they said the new Gray Nylon Sheath #944420, Retail Ref #: 930381 is the same as the old one that was originally packaged with the Bit Kit. So now you have to get it separately, which is ok I guess but they do not list on the website that it is the same or fits the Bit Kit. I made the request for them to up date their website, and requested the Bit Kit to come with a Sheath again.

Leatherman Universal MOLLE Sheath:
Also I just purchased the well made Leatherman Universal MOLLE Sheath, BUT their is a flaw to the design, because you need to be able to have the back nylon two tabs that can hold the sheath for vertical carry on a backpack strap. They need to be able to be Velcroed around the vertical straps since most backpack straps are fixed, I cant get the sheath on because the straps are stitched on the top & bottom and I want to place it right in the middle of the fixed strap stitching. The Maxpedition Signal Sheath is great for that, but I wanted a Leatherman specific version of Maxpeditions design.

Leatherman could do better regarding their accessories.

The Leatherman Bit Kit is a brilliantly designed set of thin driver bits compatible with many Leatherman products. I bought my set nearly five years ago and still use the durable, zinc coated steel bits regularly, carrying them everywhere I carry my Leatherman. I have put all of the most commonly used bits in one of the two sleeves, which fits nicely inside the back of my Wave's nylon sheath - which seems to have a nice elastic pocket made specifically for this purpose. And because the bits are so thin, they add hardly any bulk to the tool's pouch. Or, if you prefer, they come with their own belt-compatible nylon sheath. The set is an excellent way to add even more versatility to your Leatherman.
