Inexpensive, easy to install, but too dim Jan 18, 2010
By Bruce K When the unit arrived, I quickly unpacked it. It was very lightweight (which is a good thing as it provides just one screw to attach it to the ceiling), but the attached wire is too short (about 8 feet long so I had to extend it with some left over wire I had from the opener install). After installing it, it was time to aim it. The laser is mounted to the base with a friction mount and aiming can be a chore. I'll have to wait and see if this thing maintains its aim over time. But my biggest complaint is that the laser isn't bright enough. Unless your garage is really dark, you won't be able to see the laser dot. Works well at night, but if there's any sunlight at all coming in your garage, you simply won't be able to see the dot at all.
Having said that, there are some nice features to this unit. It's triggered by breaking the safety beam and stays on (with a rapid pulsing) for about one minute (have a friend handy to keep breaking the safety beam while your aiming the laser). It's a two wire unit that's wired to the same terminals on the garage door opener as the safety beams and you can attatch up to two lasers to the garage door opener. With a ladder, drill and hammer (to secure the wires to the ceiling), install took all of 5 minutes. Aiming took another 5 minutes (could have been shorter if I didn't keep having to climb down the ladder to break the beam to turn it on again).
Note to Chamberlain: Provide a longer wire and make the laser brighter!
Is it worth the money? Well, it depends on your situation. If your garage is really dark (or you only come home at night), this might do the trick for you. Otherwise, just go old school and hang a tennis ball off of a string. It'll be easier to see in all conditions.

Very poor customer service! Jul 22, 2010
By K. Kelly No reflection on Amazon as their return policy is very fast and fair. I ordered this little parking assistant laser beam to aid in parking our large van in our small garage. It worked OK and was bright enough too. The problem is that the beam would not shut off as the instructions indicated it should. I called the manufacturer and waited some 10 minutes to talk to someone. After 10 minutes on the phone with him and then 10 minutes on hold he came back and forgot the exact problem. So he put me on hold another 10 minutes and came back and it was almost as if he were trying to convince me that the laser beam should stay on. Their own instructions said that the beam will shut off after about a 1 minute delay. After spending nearly 30 minutes on the phone with Chamberlain about it the beam was still not off so I took it down and sent it back via Amazon. Based on Chamberlain's poor customer service in this instance I would not purchase any product from them.

Easy way to park your car in the same spot every time Dec 02, 2010
By Brian This easily connects to your Chamberlain garage door opener and mounts to the ceiling. Just position the laser light on your dashboard and you'll park in the same spot every time. I've had this product for 3+ years and I use it every day!

Easy to install, works well, plenty bright, great functionality. Jul 02, 2011
By Scott After getting tired of the "whoops, too far" method of parking our cars in our relatively small two car garage, we investigated a variety of alternatives, and settled on buying two of these (one for each car). Boy, are we glad we did.
They install easily (a single screw in the ceiling of the garage) and wired directly to our Chamberlain opener, which was much better than other (non-Chamberlain) alternatives that require an extra power cord. The laser light pulses on and off for about a minute after something (usually the car tire) passes the sensors and seems plenty bright, even here in Arizona where there's always sun around.
Adjusting it to hit the perfect spot on the dash takes a few minutes, as the friction mount is a little fiddly. But considering how quickly the whole thing installed, a few minutes of aim, once is a small price to pay. And it sure beats tennis balls hanging from the ceiling.
Highly recommended for anyone with a Chamberlain opener. (By the way, Chamberlain also makes the Chamberlain CLULP1 Universal Laser Garage Parking Assist, which is "universal" but if you have a Chamberlain, you probably want this one since you don't need the extra power adapter...)
Fantastic for the Price... Mar 12, 2012
By J. Bush About a year ago, I purchased one of these for my wife to help with parking her new, longer SUV in our garage. It works fantastically...bright red dot is very easy to see. So a couple of weeks ago I purchased a new, longer vehicle, and decided I could use one of these parking aids to make sure I was parked in the right spot. I let my 15 year old son install this one...took him less than 10 minutes. Can't think of any negative aspects, especially considering the price!
