 Compact and yet powerful enough Oct 03, 2010

I got this item as a gift and was sceptical at first as for me an automotive vacuum cleaner had to be the canister type in order to do the job well. After trying this compact unit, I changed my mind as it clearly can get the job done.
The smaller suction intake creates sufficient vacuum to pickup dirt and debris on the floor and even in my thick carpet floor mats. For the seats and hard to reach areas, there is an attachment that fits on the intake, providing an extension, allowing to reach remote places where the vacuum would not fit. This attachement is about a foot long and has a little brush at the end, which is great if some scrubbing is necessary to dislodge accumulated dirt. I use it in particular to vacuum the bottom of the central console where all kinds of debris have a tendancy to accumulate. Without the attachement, the vacuum cleaner would not fit in there, so it is great.
The power cord is long enough to reach the back seats and floor easily without having to re-plug in the back.
My vacuum cleaner did not come with a user manual, but everything is really self explanatory. After usage, the emptying of the body is easy and only requires to push one button. Putting it back together presents no difficulty either as there are no filter bags to change, the only filter I saw is around the motor itself and is a permanent filter.
Overal a great unit for the price.

Adequate for quick cleanups in your car. Easy to empty. Don't expect it to deep clean or pick up every piece of lint.

This vacuum is exactly what I was looking for. It is small and light weight but has a powerful suction. Really gets the mats clean and even picks up small rocks. Highly recommend this if you need a small, powerful auto vacuum.

This is a terrific little vac, 14ft of cord, gr8 suction, gr8 attachment, makes getting little pebbles and every day dirt out of mat, out of crevaces, definitely worth the money, this would not be ideal though if one had a mini van filled with cheerios, and toddler and big family messes, this is meant for cleaning mats, consoles, interior doors and such, still it is a gr8 bargain, compact and easy to store. I would buy it as a gift without trepidation.

Bought the Wagan EL9793 12V vacuum based on the detailed reviews of my fellow Amazon reviewers.
I really like this little vacuum!
- very reasonably priced
- construction is good enough for what it is (a little in car vac)
- suction is very good for a unit this size and for what it is (a little in car vac)
- small enough that you can keep it in your car all the time (mine goes in the little plastic cleaning box, with windex, etc, that I keep in the back cargo area).
- I use mine for seats, cup holders, touch ups, crevices, and back cargo carpet. I tend to have lots of beach sand and it works well on that.
- I still use my shop vac for floor mats, and often my back seats because my terriers often ride there and the shop vac is better with the hair, though this unit will do in a pinch
- 12V plug into lighter sockets and stays firmly in socket in my case (Nissan Xterra)
- cord length: I have a Nissan Xterra, and I don't know if the cord reaches all the way to the back hatch, but the cord is plenty long, and I also have 12V outlets back there so I tend to use those for the back
- inlcudes a WAND attachment that's GREAT for tight spaces and it attaches to the suction area in the front of the unit
- wand also has a small brush (detachable) that works great in my door recesses, etc, to remove the ever-present beach sand
- detaching wand brush is nice when cleaning tight spaces between seats
- easy to empty front dust reservoir, and has a little cotton type fabric mesh filter that you just bang out or you could also rinse out
